The Vintage Theater (located in the heart of downtown Scranton) seeks regional/original playwrights for its 2011/2012 theatrical season (with the first production slated for October 2011).
For nearly three years The Vintage Theater has been a center for the visual and performing arts and helped thousands of artists/performers cultivate, showcase and benefit from their works. Continuing its mission of focusing on local and original works the theater is also proud to state that the plays (while still being produced by the theater) will be performed at a larger more “theatrical” downtown venue, allowing very little limitations to the scope of the script or its technical demands. All genres, styles and types of scripts are welcome!

All those interested are encouraged to submit the script with a brief cover letter/message to
info@scrantonsvintagetheater.com,
or mail it to 119 Penn Ave. Scranton PA, 18503 (electronic submission preferred).

The deadline for scripts submissions is July 8th 2011.

The Summers End Causal Ball

As the summer draws to a close and many of us must part lets have one BIG blowout to celebrate! The Summers End Casual Ball will be a night of fantastic, funky and (if we dare may say so) fly dancing (featuring original/regional music)! The dance party begins at 7:00 pm and will continue until midnight. Tickets are only $5.00 (which includes light refreshments)

Special guest performances by Shayfer James and more to be announced!

Attire is casual – come dance the night away with us!

Innovative and chilling The Key’s of Emily tells the tale of one night and the horror that took place.

When five high school friends reunite for an evening of memories and laughter one of their own (an up and coming pianist) dies suddenly. As the four who remain delve into their pasts the secrets and failures surrounding them all come to light. Told as if it was a fire side story,the eeriness will surround you and pull you right into flames. Only one performance will be held for this special theatrical event! A reception will held one hour before the performance (complimentary food and drink provided).

Calling all playwrights – Deadline Extended!

Due to high demand the deadline has been extended until June 25th 2010 at 8:00 pm!

The Vintage Theater is thrilled to announce that next years main stage season (2010/2011) will feature all original/regionally written scripts. In our continuing effort to support local artists we have decided to take our productions directly from the heart of this areas playwright community. Please also note that while special consideration will be given to completed scripts general concepts/outlines for yet-to-be-completed projects will also be considered. We would love to work with you on your interesting and unique piece (even if its for a future season)!

Scripts (ranging from one to two acts) should be submitted to the theater electronically to info@scrantonsvintagetheater.com or delivered to the theater, at 119 Penn Avenue, Scranton PA, 18503.

Please be sure to include your name and contact information with all scripts (be it electronic or physical copy). Please note that there is no guarantee if any physical copy may be returned. The deadline for submissions is Friday, June 25th 2010 by 8:00 pm.

The Vintage Theater will be expanding its hours in the new year of 2010!

Beginning on January 4th 2010 – The Vintage Theater & Café will open at noon (12:00pm) and close at Midnight (12:00am) Monday thru Saturday – and on Sundays according to the events.
Now the premier performing art and coffee house of downtown Scranton is open even more!

Clothing and Shoe Drive

The Vintage Theater and Fibers of The Earth have joined forces to create a spectacular clothing and shoe drive in downtown Scranton.
You place all of your items in well-tied plastic bags and place them in the collection box outside The Vintage Theater at ANY time of day from November 2nd to the 20th. That’s all!

The Vintage Theater & Café is located in downtown Scranton, at 119 Penn Av. (just ½ block from The Mall at Steamtown and The Times Building).
The proceeds from the clothes drive will fund The Vintage Theater & Cafe and there many projects that strive to bring art and culture to the Scranton area at large.
We CAN accept:
• Clean wearable adult and children’s clothing and sleepwear.
• Sneakers and Shoes.
• Sheets and liens.
• Curtains
• Purses, bags and belts.
• Hats and socks
• Sporting clothes and shoes
• Outdoor clothes and shoes
• Stuff animals/soft cloth toys
• Gently used household items
Please no –
Wet, stained, or torn items. No books, household fixtures or furniture!
