First Friday September 2010 will mark one complete year for The Vintage Theater at its second and current home of 119 Penn Avenue.

We have grown, learned and gained so much over the past year that it astounds us! In honor of this special occasion we have chosen to display pieces from nearly all the fantastic artists that have graced our walls (both here at at our Wyoming Av. location). The exhibition is a timeline, chronicling where we have been and what we have accomplished, as well as revealing some fantastic plans for the future!

The collection will show old and new pieces alike, further illustrating our reflection on the past and our bright eyed determination for the future (blending the old and new in true Vintage style).

Featuring works by such artists as…

Matt Artz, Jessica Meoni, Leah Donavan, Nicole Barrasse, Constance Denchy, Hedi Van Lueven, Alicia Sangiuliano and much more!

As always – First Friday is 100% free and open to the public! First Friday occurs on September 3rd 2010 between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm (the collection itself will run throughout the month of September)

The Summers End Causal Ball

As the summer draws to a close and many of us must part lets have one BIG blowout to celebrate! The Summers End Casual Ball will be a night of fantastic, funky and (if we dare may say so) fly dancing (featuring original/regional music)! The dance party begins at 7:00 pm and will continue until midnight. Tickets are only $5.00 (which includes light refreshments)

Special guest performances by Shayfer James and more to be announced!

Attire is casual – come dance the night away with us!

Paul Martin with Jim Osborne & The Handsome Pilgrims

Jim Osborn is an independent songwriter based out of Poughkeepsie, New York. Jim learned to perform, sing, and write while playing with rock trio The Nuclear Suite for several years, opening for such acts as Badfish and Joshua James! Jim can often now be seen perofrming with The Handsome Pilgrims with Kristofer Giordano on percussion, Kevin Costigan on banjo/slide guitar/bass, and Shea Ratynski on accordion/melodica/bells/eccentricities.

They join regiongla performer Paul Martin who has reccently celebrated the release of his new album “Heartbreak Heaven”.

These talented titans will perform on July 25th 2010 at 6:00 pm, with tickets only being $5.00

GLADfresh Workshops

In March The Vintage Theater (thanks to local rostered artist and Third Director Constance Denchy) introduced the GLADfresh technique – which is the use of “cling wrap” to seal the metaphoric “historic” leftovers that the individual artists sees fit to do so.

GLADfresh will return again for August 2010 – and as we enter the final weeks before its unwrapped on August 6th (First Friday) we want YOU to become a part of it!

Come, learn and create part of the installation piece that will be unveiled at August 2010 First Friday!

Workshops to be held from 6pm to 10pm the last three Mondays of July (July 12th / July 19th / July 26th).

Open Microphone Night

Calling all musicians, poets, actors, stand up comics, etc. – this is your night to show us what you got!

The last Thursday of every month is our open microphone night. Starting at 7:00 pm we invite all performers/artists of any medium to come and do a sampling of their work. All ages and experience levels are welcome!

Remember – open mics are on the last Thursday of every month and are 100% free to attend or participate in!

The Jazz Walk

The Vintage Theater & Cafe will be a venue on the The Scranton Jazz Festival’s downtown “Jazz Walk” for the first time! This is the fifth year the festival has been held and it has done so much for the downtown and the music scene as a whole!
