The Vintage Theater presents Rhythm of The Region II, as the featured exhibit of May 2012.

The Bog Swing Trio, by Gerry Stankiewicz is one of the many pieces that will be on display.

This second installment focuses on the passion and history of the regional music scene. Various artists and contributors have combined pieces from numerous mediums such as photography, drawing, graphic design prints and venue specific memorabilia. Far too often artists of different styles and mediums are separated for one reason or another. It is the core belief of The Vintage Theater that solidarity within the arts does not add to a thriving scene, but rather can often deter it from growing. With this exhibit of visual works, fueled by the passions of the musical – it is our hope to reinvegerogate those who have lost their zeal for the arts community and hopefully, and new committed supporters!

The opening reception will occur in conjunction with First Friday, May 4th 2012 starting at 6:00 pm

There will also be a live DRAWCORE event with Ted Michalowski, music provided by Smeltzer and Smith.
All are welcome to attend and enjoy a lovely reception of food and drink (donations are encouraged)!

The Vintage Theater Seeks Steam-Punk Submissions For July Exhibit

The Vintage Theater constantly strives to work with new and engaging artists of all mediums and genres. For that reason, The Vintage Theater will present an entire exhibit inspired by the style of Steam-punk (a term coined by author K.W Jeter). The theater will be reinventing their annual “Masquerade” with the use of this unique and fascinating artistic style. Artists are encouraged to submit work for consideration in this show.

SUBMISSION INFORMATION: All artists who have works of any medium that fit under the umbrella of steampunk are encouraged to submit. Please e-mail photos of the works, a brief artist bio. and contact information to info@scrantonsvintagetheater.com or mail images/information to 119 Penn Ave, Scranton PA, 18503 (please note digital submissions are preferred). The early deadline for submissions is May 15th 2012. Submissions will be considered beyond that point on a as-needed basis.

EXHIBIT INFORMATION: The exhibit will open July 6th 2012 as part of downtown Scranton’s First Friday art-walk. It will close on July 28th 2012. The theaters gallery hours are Wednesday (6:00 pm to midnight) and Thursdays thru Saturdays (noon to 6:00 pm)

The Vintage Theater is proud to present as its special visual exhibit of April 2012, Perceptions of Earth

Perceptions of Earth features the work of Paul Bracey, Heidi Van Leuven, Leba Lanton and Constance Denchy. This exhibit’s united focus is various artistic concepts of the common ground we all must share – Earth. The simplicity of this fact (that we all share the same space) makes the various perceptions we have of it all the more interesting. The vastness of our world highlights the limitless artistic representations that can be manifested from it. It is our hope you will enjoy this exhibit and its beauty.
